Strategic Partnership Roundtable Series| Technology & AI
On October 5, the British-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with our Patron Members, held a roundtable on technology and AI as part of the Strategic Partnership Roundtable Series. The discussion brought together representatives from industry, financial services, research and the wider innovation ecosystem.
The discussion focused on how organisations are adapting to the rapid development of AI and what is needed to make use of new technologies in practice. Participants highlighted the importance of leadership, skills and organisational readiness, alongside the technology itself.
Regulation, compliance and trust were also key topics. The discussion covered data privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property and accountability, as well as the need for clearer guidance and closer alignment between the UK and EU.
Technological sovereignty was another important theme, including access to AI infrastructure, compute and foundation models. Participants discussed the importance of international collaboration and opportunities for Sweden and the UK to work together on research, infrastructure, skills and responsible AI.
Data access was discussed in relation to areas including healthcare and financial services. Participants explored how greater use of data could support innovation while maintaining privacy and security, including through approaches such as synthetic data and federated learning.
Defence and the public sector were identified as areas with strong potential for further collaboration, alongside healthcare and research. The discussion also highlighted the importance of turning broader ambitions into practical projects and bringing the right people together to address specific challenges.
Thank you to Ian Richardson for moderating the discussion, and to Eidra for hosting the roundtable. We also thank all participants for sharing their perspectives and contributing to the conversation.
