On 4 November, we had the pleasure of welcoming our Patron Members to the Annual Patrons’ Dinner, in the presence of H.E. Samantha Job CMG MVO, British Ambassador to Sweden, hosted by Eversheds Sutherland.
This year's theme, “The future of geopolitics, trade, business and global competitiveness”, brought together Lord Alok Sharma KCMG PC, former President of COP26 and former Secretary of State, and Karl-Henrik Sundström, Chairman of Boliden and former CEO of Stora Enso, for a fireside conversation moderated by our Chair, Magdalena Gerger.
The discussion explored the shifting geopolitical landscape and its implications for Europe's position as a global economic force. Topics included international trade, transatlantic relations, energy security, AI and the future of European industry. Both speakers shared their perspectives on what it will take for Europe, the UK and Sweden to remain competitive, highlighting the importance of innovation, resilience and international collaboration.
H.E. Samantha Job offered closing reflections on the UK-Sweden Strategic Partnership, emphasising the opportunities for closer cooperation in addressing shared challenges and strengthening our collective competitiveness.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Lord Alok Sharma and Karl-Henrik Sundström for sharing their insights, to H.E. Samantha Job for her reflections, and to Eversheds Sutherland for their warm hospitality and generosity in hosting the evening. Last but certainly not least, we would like to thank our Patron Members for their continued support. Your knowledge, engagement and contributions remain central to the strength of our network and the British-Swedish business community.
